Cloud collar

The name “cloud collar” comes from the shape of this collar’s lobes, or petals, which are often layered. Women wore these collars over robes for special occasions. The cloud shapes represent abundance. At one time, the neck opening symbolized the Sky Gate (the entrance to heaven), and the lobes, pointing in four directions, represented the universe in miniature.

Of your accessories, which do you wear strictly for decoration and which have a function?

The majority of my accessories are strictly for decorative purposes. For example, I have many large silver rings, a variety of necklaces and scarves too thin to provide any warmth. These are simply pieces that I enjoy wearing for their aesthetic appeal. I do have some scarves that I consider decorative and functional, also. Most people wear watches for the obvious reason of being able to tell what time it is. I must admit that I am more likely to check my cellphone for the time, and my watch mostly serves a decorative purpose. I suppose for me, there is a bit of an overlap with decorative and functional purposes. I don't believe one is more valuable than the other, as both play a vital part in my wardrobe.
